#1Bugatti – is now Queen Pensri and lives in Essex, MA. She is at home with a wonderful little girl who will love her to peaces.

#2 Lotus – is now Alakai and lives in Shirley, MA He began his takeover and training of his family soon after arriving home :)

#3 Aston Martin – is now Ming and lives in Bolton, MA. He is at home with his new buddies two German Shepard dogs.

#4 Ferrari – is now Nyssa to honor a much loved and missed family member and her Siamese. Nyssa lives in Waltham, MA She is at home with Nelson (Merlin from Fenya's spring 2012 litter).

#5 Mach 5 – is now Mini-Cooper and lives in Wells, ME. Much adored she and her owner quickly became best buddies.

July 31st - Bugatti was picked up this morning. It was reported back to us that she was also quiet during her ride home. Quite at home too until it was bed time then she wanted to know why her owner was wanting to sleep when she wanted to have a slumber party and stay up all night talking, lol.

Grainne was ready for her last kitten to go on its way. She was starting to be irritated by it and on the last day was smacking poor Bugatti on the nose. Fenya is now back with Grainne, She spent the morning grooming Grainne.

July 23rd afternoon - We sent Aston Martin off this afternoon. After his surgery he howled all the way home so I warned his owner he might cry in the car. She sent me video of him sitting quietly in his carrier while stuck in rush hour traffic. He's doing very well in his new home. Not to be left out of the daily routine he's becoming one of the dogs, lol

July 22nd - tweleve weeks old - It's been a busy week for the kittens. Lots of running about and driving their momma crazy, lol. On Tuesday Aston Martin went in to be neutered and the girls enjoyed their all girls day of play.

July 17th - Yesterday we went back to the animal Hospital and got some pretty tummy jewelry for Miss Bugatti. Our vet decided to be on the safe side we should put a couple surgical staples in her incision. We didn't want her to lick it open over the long weekend. Her incision looks great and so do the other girls. Miss Mach has a small suture bump and Miss Ferrari has a medium size one but it feels solid so its just inflammation from the sutures. They are all quite sure nothing happen to them. Lotus went home with his family last night. It was a quick last minute plan so I didn't get a nice good bye photo of him. He was sleeping on the sofa while waiting when I snapped his photo. I took some back lit photos of Aston Martin and the girls this afternoon before they fell asleep.

July 15th - eleven weeks old - The kittens went in for their alter surgery yesterday, except Aston Martin who is being held to see how he matures as a possible breeding cat for another cattery. The kittens did really well and came out of anestic very quickly. The doctor was surprised how quickly they became active after surgery. She said Lotus was done last but was the most demanding. He was climbing the cage and hanging from the top. He just doesn't like to be crated. He would cry to them and they would take him out and hold him and he would purr and then want to be back with his siblings and as soon as he was back in he wanted out. He kept the staff busy taking him out to hold, I'm sure this was not a difficult decision on their part. Who doesn't want to hold a kitten, lol. Ferrari and Mach 5's surgeries went very well. They have resorbing sutures in the muscle wall and surgical skin glue closing their tiny skin incisions. Bugatti had a little complication. She had a slight knick that caused some very minor bleeding. Because of this her incision is a little bit bigger then the micro incision on the other girls. She had resorbing sutures in her muscle wall to but has regular sutures (stitches) for her incision. The doctor wanted her incision to be able to drain if needed. Glue doesn't allow for that. I don't like sutures. The kitten pull at the knots and end up removing them. As soon as she got home we used a cotton sock to make a tube to cover her incision. She did have some very minor fluid that showed on the tube. She had 4 or 5 tiny stitches. This morning she has two left. and after breakfast just before she knapped she figured out how to remove the tube. I suspect we may be back at the vet if she removes the last two sutures. Everyone incision look great this morning. Ferrari has a bit of swelling, a reaction to the internal suture material. This will resolve as the suture material is resorbed by her body.

July 9th - A few photos from this morning. Unfortunately the sun was often behind clouds so eye color is not great. You can tell in which photos the sun was out by the better color, lol. The kittens personalities are coming out more. Lotus is being a bit of a rascal. We are working on him not jumping and grabbing my leg when I wear my pajamas. I'm sure the billows of the fabric are what is so enticing to him. We are also working with several of the kittens on not hanging from the lace curtain in the dining room, lol. Its just at the right level for when they stretch up and hook claws into it. They are learning the word. "No".

July 8th - ten weeks old - Its time for kittens to leave when they cause their momma to lose her mind, lol. Last night they were running about and intentionally challenging each other. Lots of puffing, hissing, and crazy running nails on the floor. Momma lost her mind and thought they had a enemy after them. She targeted poor Fenya. Fen understood and kept her distance. We calmed momma down and they reintroduced and were fine together until the next crazy game started and she went after Fen again. We tried to separate and reintroduce but Momma wasn't having it. So fen and Grainne are separated for the time being until the perceived threat with these kittens is past.

Monday night the kittens went to their first wellness exam with our Vet. They road the the office quietly. Lotus didn't like being in the carrier and wanted out right away. Dr. Schaefer said they are all in excellent health and each got their first vaccination (FVRCP). Dr. Gould stopped in with her children to see the kittens. Each kitten got to be loved on making this doctor visit special for them.

Their current weights are:

Lotus 3 lbs 5.5 ounces

Aston Martin 3 lbs 3 ounces

Ferrari 3 lbs 2 ounces

Mach 5 2 lbs 15.5 ounces

Bugatti 2 lbs 10 ounces

All the kittens were a bit sleepy on Tuesday from their vaccines as their bodies made antibodies to protect them. Bugatti was hit harder by this then the other kittens. She was obviously more droopy and just wanted to rest all day. They all are back to their normal energetic kitten state today. They decided this morning was play upstairs in the media room day. I'll try to get some better birthday close up photos today.

July 1st - nine weeks old -This week has been a very busy kitten week and I mean they are busy little balls of fur. :) Lots of racing going on with thundering paws. Its amazing how much noise those little paws can make on a wood floor. I've been taking hundreds of photos but most of them end up looking like this...just a blurrrrr. Here are the best of what I was able to capture and some that just show what the kittens are up to. I was trying to get a nice photo of Fenya but she would look everywhere but at me.

Then the toy I was trying to get her to look at was just too enticing, lol

The kittens in this litter are all so pretty its hard for me to tell who is who in these photos.

This next series is playing on the kitchen cat tree. They love this because they can hang from their back feet and go down head first while pushing their body against the corner wall. They zip up and down doing this over and over. Its not unusual to just see little brown toe pads on the top edge, lol.

June 24th - eight weeks old - Its been a busy week with families visiting and the kitten embracing their ability to go everywhere in the house. They are driving their momma crazy. She wants them to all play in one room where she can watch them....its just not happening, lol. Every so often we will hear a kitten yelling and will discover momma is trying to scruff and drag them back to the living room. They are much to big for that. They're pretty much being rebellious teens. They are really enjoying running at top speed. Momma loves this game and wants them to chase her.

June 18th - Ferrari was so cute today. She was sleeping in a nest on the cat tree and all the other kittens went to sleep in the corner family nest behind the sofa. I was sitting on the sofa when I hear a loud "mew?" followed by a second "mew?" I answered, "I'm here baby" and looked over at her. He head popped up over the rim and looked at me, mew mew mew. I talked to her more and she kept calling to me. I got up and went over to her to pet her and she started purring like crazy and stared at me locking eyes, then she curled up and went back to sleep. :), too sweet. Bugatti is our really big purrer its nice when I hear the other kittens purring too.

This morning after remarking the kittens colors in preparation for family visits all the kittens ran back to the family nest except Ferrari who went to her cat tree nest and Lotus who chose to crawl up onto my lap and fall asleep. Mach 5 is doing really well with gaining her confidence. She still has moments when she is a bit too concerned. We need to make her aware when we are near her so we don't startle her. Its her startle response that shakes her confidence. She likes to play rough with her siblings. Were working on teaching her "no bite" she doesn't bite really but she does use her mouth on fingers the way cats do because their mouth is like a hand. She will put her mouth on my fingers to stop me from tickling her tummy. A tactic I find acceptable given what I'm doing to her, lol. We just want her to know its not acceptable to apply any pressure. Just like children consistent repetition of training is really important to the success of training.

We had a wonderful family visit and all the kitten enjoyed being entertained. Lotus chose his family as much as they chose him.

We didn't have enough strong light to get good photos, sorry. We will work on better ones this week when the sun decides to come out again.

June 17th - seven weeks old - Today was our last weigh in. All the kitten have reached 2 pounds except our petite princess Bugatti and she is very close to 2 lbs. The qualification for alter surgery is 8 weeks / 2 pounds. We hit our 2 pounds and are on track. We don't alter our kittens until 10 weeks after they have their vaccine at 9 weeks. Lotus is a big solid boy I am curious to see how large an adult he becomes compared to his brother Aston Martin who has a leaner build by comparison. They are very close in weight. Aston Martin is a more active kitten. He is a first awake and last to sleep type of cat.

June 13th - Now that Aston Martin is occupied with the important business of play he spends less time on my lap. He still comes to me and walks on me but he is quickly off to chase and play. With an open lap Lotus has been climbing in and the girls are also eyeing my lap, lol Lotus is so cute he follows me about and likes to be right at my feet. I have to be careful when I move. The kittens had their first family visit this weekend. They did very well. Ferrari, Bugatti, and Aston Martin enjoyed playing while Lotus and Mach 5 decided to nap with momma. Bugatti's family brought her the blanket shown in today's photos. She's sharing it with her family.

June 13th - The kittens are getting harder to weigh. No one wants to stay still long enough for the scale to settle to a weight, lol. Lotus reached 2 lbs today. The others are not far behind. I think the next weigh in will be our last. The kittens are doing very well eating on their own.

June 8-9th - The kittens are working on overcoming their instinct of fearing things they don't know well. Momma is still hauling them into the living room when they don't come fast enough for her taste,*sigh*. They need to do this on their own to build their confidence. They are now coming out to play with each other and we are introducing moving toys. Ferrari found her growl today, lol. They have not yet learned to go back to the kitten room to use the litter box so we watch them closely and make sure everyone goes back at nap time. Today we allowed them to be out extra long and to nap in the living room. As they began to wake up Ferrari came out and became crying. She was saying, "I have to pee". I took her back into the kitten room and she went in the litter. The we walked together back into the living room. They are learning slowly with each positive experience.

June 3-4th - five weeks old - The kittens are making slow progress with exploring. Its just too much fun to play with the sibling next to you then to go sneaking about the house. They are being brought into the living room though. Momma really wants them in here. She keeps scruffing and hauling them herself. She will get Aston Martin or one of the seals to follow her then she can't wait and will carry in a couple more. Then whoever is left will start calling out. I go talk to them and they run out to me and walk right next to my feet into the living room. Its so cute. They are working on figuring it out tonight. Momma keeps running from room to room as each kitten yells out. Maybe they're playing Marco Polo. Bugatti is my model always ready to pose nicely for a photo. Lotus is a big calm playful kitten. She comes to me when I talk to her and she is alone. Aston Martin is my lap boy. If I am sitting on the floor he is on me. I think he thinks he's human lol. He is very people oriented. Ferrari is the pixie kitten of the litter. A goofy girl that's always into something. The comic. Mach five is our elegant girl. She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn...no scratch that she's more Kate Hepburn when you see her play with the other kittens. She really gets into the fray, just like Kate would, but elegant when not playing tough.

May 31st - This morning I decided to allow everyone to go into the living room so I could steam clean the floor without traumatizing anyone with my hissing shark steamer. Momma was sooo happy to take her kits into the larger world. Even if it was just to the bed behind the corner of the sofa, lol. This afternoon I opened the office door again to allow them to explore. Aston Martin came right out as if he had been doing this for weeks. Momma hauled two more, Mach 5 and Bugatti. Then she grabbed Ferrari leaving Lotus alone. Within a few minutes I heard the Lotus alarm going off, lol Mew...mew...mew...mew. I walked to the front hall outside the door and said, "Come on kitty", and Lotus cam running to me and followed me to the living room. We will allow them to explore several times a day for short periods until we are sure they are using the litter box well and can find their way back to it.

May 30th - Litter box use has begun. The kittens are learning what it feels like to have to go on their own and where they should go.

May 26th - You can see from the weights the last few days why we now switch to weighing the kitten twice a week. I will weigh them tomorrow for their birthday then begin bi-weekly checks. I offered baby cat kibble today and every kitten ate some. We are adding in the training litter box also. This seems to be a very talkative litter and they all seem pretty confident at this stage. They are climbing up on top of the cubby beds. It won't be long before we see them going up the cat tree at this rate.

Miss Mach 5 needs to find her confidence. She was exploring but had her tail tucked under showing she was not completely confident in where she was.

May 20th - three weeks old - No one has ventured out of the safety of the nest yet. Momma sits out in front when they are being really active. They have little tooth nubs now and are starting to bite when they wrestle. Nobody's teeth are in far enough to cause any pain yet. They are getting strong enough that we should see them venturing out to explore in the next week or so. I'm better it will be Aston Martin or Ferrari that will break out first. :)

May 13th - two weeks old -We are starting to see definition of the pupil and blue color as their eyes continue to finish developing. It also time for their first nail trim. Their ears are also open now. They all look up at me when I come to visit and talk to them. They are working on strengthening their legs and are very curious about what is beyond the edge of the nest.

May 9th - The kittens are becoming more aware of us. Bugatti will come and look up at us when we visit. Both Bugatti and Lotus are very calm when held. They enjoy the interaction. All the kitten love being stroked on their faces and heads. They decided to use the same nipples so not everyone can nurse at the same time. It can lead to some fussy times and scrapping trying to push each other out of the way, lol.

May 3rd - four days old - Their nose leather is coloring up. Looks like we have three seals and two chocolates. The chocolate color comes in much more slowly so the kittens with the lighter noses are the chocolates and the ones with the darker noses are the seals. Aston Martin's eyes are being to peep open. Today was cord shedding day. Everyone's cord was shed. Weights continue to be consistent.

April 29, 2015 - Birth Day! Grainne went into labor at 4:35pm today and delivered all five kittens in a timely manner. The first three were in head first diving position and the last two came tail first. They were all active right away and all wanted to nurse right after birth. Everything about this litters delivery was perfect.

It may be I've seen to many episodes of Chasing Classic Cars, Wheeler Dealer, & Top Gear, we've named this litter after cars.

I have not determined sex of the kittens. Not going to guess now because I was wrong on my last litter, lol. Their names and my calling them him, he, her or she is not a reflection of their true sex. It can be very difficult to determine sex at this age.
